Embedded directly within UVA’s engineering organization, I engineered core patient-finding and content experiences for uvahealth.com. I instituted layout-agnostic component quality standards, conducted bidirectional code reviews with client engineers, coordinated shared CMS content models, and authored comprehensive developer onboarding documentation.
CONTEXT
Project overview
The complete rebuild of uvahealth.com modernized the health system’s public digital experience into a headless architecture. Built on Astro with React islands and UnoCSS, the platform integrates Contentstack CMS, Coveo HIPAA-compliant search, and Frontify digital assets to deliver fast, accessible healthcare navigation for patients and clinicians.
CONTRIBUTION
My contribution
Embedded directly inside UVA’s GitHub organization alongside the client’s internal engineering team. Guided frontend standards, delivered central patient and article features, coordinated shared CMS schemas across developers, and created onboarding frameworks for subsequent engineering waves.
Patient navigation & core content experiences
Delivered key patient-facing features, including the full-width Find Care experience, alphabetical provider/service filters, featured card grids, story blocks, article feeds, and homepage CTAs with analytics instrumentation. Implemented the Healthy Balance article routing architecture and built a functional Qualtrics patient survey proof of concept.
Client engineering collaboration & bidirectional code review
Worked directly within UVA’s engineering organization, participating in bidirectional code reviews with client developers. Established a strict component quality standard—requiring every component to function seamlessly across any layout context—and championed design polish before code merged.
Content A/B testing
Worked on A/B testing for UVA Health’s website content.
Content modeling & multi-developer coordination
Coordinated complex Contentstack content-model changes and Zod schema validations across three developers modifying shared files simultaneously, eliminating schema conflicts and preventing deployment regressions.
Developer onboarding punchlist & rollout readiness
Authored the foundational onboarding guide for incoming developers, detailing Astro island architecture, UnoCSS conventions, Contentstack Zod schemas, collection routing, and QA workflows. Resolved and merged all open pull requests prior to departure to ensure a clean codebase transition.
