01 CONTEXT

Project overview

The uvahealth.com rebuild moved the health system’s public site to a headless architecture: Astro with React islands and UnoCSS, integrated with Contentstack CMS, Coveo HIPAA-compliant search, and Frontify digital assets.

02 CONTRIBUTION

My contribution

I worked inside UVA’s GitHub organization alongside the client’s own engineers: setting frontend standards, building patient and article features, coordinating shared CMS schemas, and preparing onboarding for the next group of developers.

• Patient navigation & core content experiences

  Built patient-facing features including the full-width Find Care experience, alphabetical provider/service filters, featured card grids, story blocks, article feeds, and homepage CTAs with analytics. Implemented the Healthy Balance article routing, built a working Qualtrics patient survey proof of concept, and worked on A/B testing of site content.

• Client collaboration & code review

  Worked within UVA’s engineering organization, reviewing code with client developers in both directions. Set a component standard (every component must work in any layout context) and pushed for design polish before merge.

• Content modeling & multi-developer coordination

  Coordinated Contentstack content-model changes and Zod schema validation across three developers editing the same shared files, to avoid schema conflicts and deployment regressions.

• Developer onboarding & handover

  Wrote the onboarding guide for incoming developers, covering Astro islands, UnoCSS conventions, Contentstack Zod schemas, collection routing, and QA workflows. Resolved and merged all open pull requests before leaving so the codebase changed hands cleanly.
